Welcome

This is an ongoing collection of dried cultivated and wild vegetation mostly produced and gathered from the Leatherstocking region of Upstate New York near Cooperstown since 1999. A number of our items are organically grown.

FREE Shipping: As it is important for me to know how folks happen to visit Farm
and Field.net I will randomly select orders and provide free shipping on items where the customer advises me of that when they place their order.

Gift Certificates are available.

Most of the items can be recycled (in compost) rather than added to the local waste stream.

Birch Bark

In stock flattened birch bark sheets that are about 2 to 3 mm. in thickness and approximately 24 inches X 36 inches. Will cut to other dimensions. Used as wall covering (both inside and out), crafts, and furniture surfacing. It is removed from logs after harvest for lumber. I suggest that you order 10 to 20% more than the exact dimensions as the pieces are not exact and there will be some waste.

Normally available from mid-May on.

You will find that dried bark can be made more flexible and pliable by heating in warm water or by steaming it. Several layers of white paper may be peeled away on thick bark to make the remaining sheets easier to cut and fold.

The bark can be attached with white headed brads and/or wood glue.
